More on this Book

English summary: The former Federal Republic of Germany was an efficient and well-organized surveillance state. Massive instances of letter-opening and phone-tapping successfully sidestepped or trampled on the German constitution. But how did these acts of leveraging constitutional rights come to be? How was it done and by whom? Who was responsible? What role did the former occupiers have in these acts? This volume provides a hitherto unknown wealth of secret files of the German government in an investigative documentation of how West Germany kept tabs on its citizens. A must-have volume for anyone interested in the recent history of this European powerhouse.
