This photo journal chronicles the travels of a small group of friends on an “insight trip” to visit several ministries in Uganda and Rwanda. I went along as the photographer, and was initially motivated by the adventurous nature of the trip and the opportunity to photograph the people and places we visited and the mountain gorillas made famous by Dian Fossey. During the course of our travels I became increasingly interested in, and appreciative of, the work these ministries preform and the dramatic impact they have on the lives of the people they serve. I also believe I gained a better understanding of the role of faith in motivating the people involved in these ministries to work so hard to help others in the face of seemingly insurmountable challanges such as overpopulation, poverty, hunger and disease. The title I choose for this book, Faith and Good Works in Africa, refers most obviously to the deeply rooted religious beliefs that form a common bond among the people we meet.
