Austen's comedy of manners—one of the most popular novels of all time—features splendidly civilized sparring between the proud Mr. Darcy and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet as they play out their spirited courtship in a series of 18-century drawing-room intrigues. Reissue.

What a great classic book to read. I am 74 years young and this is my first Jane Austen read - it will not be my last! Perhaps "Great Expectations" next. What an arrogant fellow Mr. Darcy seemed, but like all good classic love stories Elizabeth brought him to heel without really trying! What a good story. I loved reading about how courtship, manners etc. were in that period - so different from other books I have read and from our present era. I would highly recommend this book to any reader who would like to enjoy a great readable classic.
