The author tells of the events and repercussions surrounding the 1920 lynching of three black men accused of the rape of a white woman. Newspaper accounts, court records, state files and interviews with witnesses are used to recount the small but telling stories of observers and participants.

MICHAEL FEDO is the author of four other books including 'The Lynchings in Duluth' and 'The Man from Lake Wobegon' and has been a contributor to the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Newsday, and the Christian Science Monitor. He lives in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, a place named, not surprisingly, for the numerous racoons that used to frequent the banks of Coon Creek.
