At Crydee, a frontier outpost in the tranquil Kingdom of the Isles, an orphan boy, Pug, is apprenticed to a master magician -- and the destinies of two worlds are changed forever. Suddenly the peace of the Kingdom is destroyed as mysterious alien invaders swarm the land. Pug is swept up into the conflict but for him and his warrior friend, Tomas, an odyssey into the unknown has only just begun. Tomas will inherit a legacy of savage power from an ancient civilization. Leona K's Review of Magician
“Magicianâ€? was the very first fantasy book I ever read, recommended to me by a male friend all those years ago as an introduction to the world of fantasy.
This book started my interest in fantasy novels and I do not think I have had the same unique and excitable enjoyment out of any fantasy novel I have read since.

Feist smoothly brings you into the fantasy genre and initiates the reader to the various types of entities within, without expecting you to be an expert.

From the start and beyond into the series, I have felt extremely attached to Pug the central character, but Raymond E. Feist makes all his characters likeable regardless of their differing lifestyles, morals and ethics. Readers will not be disappointed by each of the characters presented in this book and will get pleasure from each, just as they have been written.

I would recommend this book as a starter to anyone not already a fantasy story fan, and to anyone who already loves this genus of authoring such as the novels by Terry Brooks and Robert Jordan.
