Publisher Description

'Be a MAN in the City Watch! The City Watch needs MEN!' Review
“'Funny, wise and mock heroic with a tongue-in-cheek Technicolour certainty'” Sunday Express “'Like Jonathan Swift, Pratchett uses his other world to hold up a distorting mirror to our own, and like Swift he is a satirist of enormous talent ... incredibly funny ... compulsively readable' ” The Times “'His spectacular inventiveness makes the Discworld series one of the perennial joys of modern fiction' ” Mail on Sunday “'The great Terry Pratchett, whose wit is metaphysical, who creates an energetic and lively secondary world, who has a multifarious genius for strong parody ... who deals with death with startling originality. Who writes amazing sentences' ” New York Times

Author Biography

Terry Pratchett is the acclaimed creator of the global bestselling Discworld series, the first of which, The Colour of Magic, was published in 1983. Raising Steam is his fortieth Discworld novel. His books have been widely adapted for stage and screen, and he is the winner of multiple prizes, including the Carnegie Medal, as well as being awarded a knighthood for services to literature. After falling out with his keyboard he now talks to his computer. Occasionally, these days, it answers back. @terryandrob
