Australian Nature Fieldguide: Wild Food Plants of Australia is the fieldguide edition of Wild Food Plants of Australia. It is presented in a concise, convenient form to facilitate quick and ready reference in the field. Tim Low has provided a truly reliable guide to our edible flora, making identification easy. Thus it is a perfect companion for bushwalkers, naturalists, scientists and, with emphasis on wild food cuisine, gourmets. Low describes more than 180 plants - from the most tasty and significant plant foods of southern and eastern Australia to the more important and spectacular inland and tropical foods. Distribution maps are provided with each description plus notes on how these plants were used in the past and can be used today. Beautifully illustrated with colour photographs and line drawings there is also a guide to poisonous and non-poisonous plants, and information on introduced food plants, the nutrients found in wild food plants, on bush survival, and how to forage for and cook with wild plants.

Great little book. Small enough to take out in the sticks with you but big enough to fit all the info you need. Highly recommended.

I love this book. It came quickly. I was amazed at how much I could eat just out of my garden. I added some to my salad & no one even knew we had weeds in it! good boost of vitamins. I'd recommend this to anyone who is interested in knowing more about edible plants in Australia for travel, emergencies or just to spice up the home cooking.

Excellent book, just started learning about wild edible plants. Didn't realise how many plants that are edible and are better for you than the typical vegetables you find at the stores. If you like this book, I highly recommend "The weed forager's handbook - A guide to edible and medicinal weeds in Australia".

I bought one of these books to donate to an indigenous nursery as there have been several queries of late. Ideal reference for them. The other I am reading and finding it valuable . small enough to go in a backpack to use as a field guide. Good layout, with photos of each plant. Both Latin and common names are given.. Published 1991, so not new, but recommended.
