Critic Reviews

“Is one of your goals for this year to learn how to do quilt top piecing? This might be your ticket: Piecing the Piece O' Cake Way by Linda Jenkins and Becky Goldsmith is due out in April, published by C&T Publishing. The focus of this book is technique, proper technique that will lead to successful quilts. Starting with choosing fabrics and the design elements of color, contrast, and pattern, the authors take you step by step through increasingly challenging designs, allowing you to master each basic skill in a fun project, and compiling your mastery skill upon skill. The chapters cover strips, squares, half-square triangles, curves, diamonds, and improvisational piecing. This is a really good beginner's book, with no techniques taken for granted, clear instructions, plenty of pictures, and exact dimensions and shopping lists provided.”

-- Cyndi Lavin mixed-media-artist.com, 2/24/16 I am new to quilting and I have to say this book is brilliant. I have found following the instructions and techniques so easy. It guides you through everything. I was astounded by the amount of information. It covers so much and makes you much more confident quilting. I don't normally take to books so much but this one really does what it says. I love the fact that it talks you through everything and gives you so much information of each stage. There are a lot of things I have been trying but have found difficult. I have found instructions in the book that have made it so much easier. There are photos and diagrams throughout the book, they are clear and easy to follow. The first part of the book is taken up with all the how to's and instructions. Then it moves onto different quilt patterns and how to make them. I love the fact that they even have arrows to help you with your assembly. I haven't seen this in a book before. Even when you are making the quilts they still provide helpful pictures and instructions. If you already quilt then it doesn't matter, you still have all the quilts and designs you can make. I found this book really useful! crochetaddictuk.com, March 2016 No wonder these ladies look happy in their pic on the back cover, they are happy quilters. These ladies know more than a thing or two about patchwork and quilting and they share their techniques in this practical reference. Find everything you need to know from sewing seams to cutting large pieces of fabric and lots more to create fabulous quilts. Discover basic arithmetic that enables you to make any quilt any size. Contents include Fabric; Colour; Techniques; Strips; Squares; Half-Square Triangles; Curves; Diamonds; Sampler Quilt; Improvisational Piecing and more. Discover 10 projects to hone your skills and build your confidence. I love the projects and would make them all, but Spinwheels is my favourite. I think I will try the sampler quilt to test and practice different skills. Bits and Pieces is also very appealing for trying out new skills. Such a useful book. Recommended. yarnsandfabrics.co.uk, 3/21/16
