The story reimagines the 21st Century Solar System as Tandra Grey, the elll Conn, and the varok Orram disentangle the alien from the familiar to reach the embattled human population, and each other. Their travels continue from Earth to the Oort Cloud, with several stops in-between, in Nautilus silver medalist The Webs of Varok and its sequel The Alien Effect.

Cary Neeper raised her daughters in the US Southwest with her husband and a friendly menagerie of dogs, fish and fowl. An avid proponent of sustainability and steady-state economics since the 1970s, she studied zoology, chemistry and religion at Pomona College and medical microbiology at the U. Wisconsin - Madison. Cary paints landscapes in acrylics, including the cover art for The Archives of Varok.
