About the Author

With a host of award-winning novels to his credit, Victor Kelleher remains one of Australia's most celebrated writers for both adults and children. Born in London, he lived in Africa for twenty years before moving to New Zealand, where he began to write. He moved to Australia in 1976, where he lives with his sculptor wife. Formerly an Associate Professor of literature, he now writes full-time from his home in Bellingen, New South Wales. Born in New Zealand, Ruth Park came to Australia in 1942 to continue her career as a journalist. She married the writer D'Arcy Niland and travelled with him through the north-west of New South Wales before settling in Sydney where she became a full-time writer. She has written over fifty books, and her many awards include the prestigious Miles Franklin Award. Gary Crew is an award-winning author of many books for young adults and children. Gary is currently an associate professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast where he lectures in creative writing. Andrew Lansdown is a widely published and award winning Australian writer, whose poems and stories have been published in numerous magazines and newspapers and are represented in over 100 anthologies. His published books include 15 collections of poetry, two collections of children’s poetry, two collections of photography-and-poetry, two collections of short stories and three fantasy novels. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, of French parents, Sophie Masson came to Australia at the age of five. She spent her childhood commuting between France and Australia. Sophie has had more than forty novels published in Australia, for adults, young adults and children. Her work has also been published in the UK, US and Germany.Sophie Masson is married, has three children and lives in northern New South Wales. Alison has had nine books published – two books for adults and seven for young people. Four of them have been translated into Italian, Danish, Dutch and Thai. Her project, Cold Stone Soup, an unpublished memoir about growing up under apartheid and migrating to Australia has won the FAW 2013 National Literary Awards (Jim Hamilton Award for a non-fiction manuscript). Cold Stone Soup was also runner-up in the 2010 Penguin/Varuna Scholarship. Her first book for adults, Born Into the Country was shortlisted for the 1987 AA Mutual Life Vita Young Writers’ Award. Her YA novel, The Wishing Moon was shortlisted for the 1995 Australian Multicultural Children’s Award and was a 1995 Children’s Book Council Notable book. Her YA dystopia, Days Like This, was a finalist in the inaugural 2010 Amazon/Penguin Breakthrough Novel Award in the YA category.Alison lives in Sydney and is married with two adult children. When she gets the chance, she loves travelling – who doesn't? Alison worked for years as a news and feature journalist. She currently writes travel stories. Don Barker is an Australian actor, best known for his roles as Det. Sgt. Harry White in the police procedural series Homicide (which he reprised in an episode of Bluey), and as Bill Jackson in early episodes of the women's prison drama Prisoner. He has appeared in many mini-series and television movies, most recently he appeared in the film Rabbit-Proof Fence. TV credits include: Division 4, Matlock Police, Certain Women, The Box, The Restless Years, Bellamy, Mother and Son, A Country Practice, Blue Heelers, McLeod's Daughters and City Homicide. Charlotte George is an actress and director, known for Two Minutes to Midnight (2005), The House of Names (2003) and Countdown (2013). Edwin Hodgeman has been an actor of distinction in Adelaide and nationally for many decades. Born in 1935, he emerged in the ’50s from under the wing of the legendary pioneer Adelaide theatre director Colin Ballantyne - the man many deem the founding father of modern professional theatre in South Australia. Hodgeman's career has included significant theatre roles and endless critical approbation. He is recognised as a respected classical stage actor and has worked extensively in Australian cinema. His long list of credits includes Shine, Robbery Under Arms, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, Playing Beattie Bow, Tracks of Glory, The Survivor, Sara Dane, Eureka Stockade, Human Touch, and Look Both Ways. Marcella Russo has worked extensively as an actor and singer in theatre, film and radio. Her film work includes The Dreaming, Struck by Lightning, Un Padre Traditionale and The Big Maybe. Marcella is an experienced voice-over artist and has performed in various ABC radio dramas. Chris Pitman is an actor residing in Adelaide, South Australia. He has narrated several audio books and worked extensively in theatre, having worked for every major theatre company around Australia. His credits include Cloudstreet, Belvoir St Theatre, Don’s Party, Sydney Theatre Company, Toy Symphony, Queensland Theatre Company, and Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, State Theatre Company of South Australia. Anna Steen is a Theatre graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Anna has worked with various theatre companies across Australia, working nationally and internationally. Anna works as a regular voice over artist and has performed in a number of radio dramas and poeticas for Radio National. She has both produced and narrated over 20 novels and anthologies for Audio Books.
