About the Author

Lisa teaches courses in academic writing, including a communication in science paper. She is involved in designing and teaching courses in writing for education and business students. Her PhD thesis - entitled A collaborative approach to integrating the teaching of writing into the sciences in a New Zealand tertiary context" - involved designing a communications paper for science students in conjunction with academic staff from the sciences, and implementing a WAC programme into core applied science and horticulture courses. Most of her research, like her PhD, focuses on writing across the curriculum and action research, so her particular interest in methodology is rather unusual for someone in a School of English. At present she is involved in researching attitudes to communication and interpersonal skills amongst science students and employers of science students - she also researches issues relating to plagiarism and educational webtools as they pertain to the teaching of writing."
