Description

What do men and boys long for, agonise over, aspire to? Why are men often silent in dark and difficult situations? Why do so many find it hard to express how much they care? What do they look for in women? What do they want from committed relationships, from friendships? How do they feel about kids? What motivates them? What do they worry about? How do they see their bodies? What is life like for them as they age? Why do so many resort to suicide? Every day we read articles about men - men at home, men at work, men in bed - but still the confusion and frustration between the sexes remain. Can we put the differences between men and women down to the influence of Venus and Mars, or are there more intricate dynamics at play?

Critic Reviews

"Hamilton achieves what she set out to achieve – to give men a voice." -- The Sunday Telegraph
"Competition, pressure to win, sex, cheating, immaturity, anger, substance abuse, the need for advice and affirmation from elders – these are just some of the issues that gnaw at men because they are not discussed with others and, thus, never get resolved in a healthy way. A sensitive and thorough writer, Maggie Hamilton provides a solid overview of mens' challenges from the time they're conceived to late adulthood. The research will promote more empathy than men usually get. Credit for much of this impact goes to narrators Dino Marnika, who delivers quotes with great sensitivity from the men interviewed, and Marie-Louise Walker, who handles the rest of the program with a lovely speaking style and audible respect for the material." -- AudioFile Magazine
