A Quiet Sorcery weaves a calming tapestry of text and image. Gentle on the eye and mind alike, this book features original poetry by Jo Ward alongside a carefully curated selection of imagery by photographers and artists from around the world. The guiding idea is to create a visual form of poetry that feels approachable and restful, opening up a space to contemplate the natural world and the materiality of language itself.  
 
This book forms part of a larger collection of visual poetry called Ovidian.  

Jo Ward is an Australian writer living in Samford Valley, Queensland. In 2019, she created Ovidian: a collection of visual poetry that interweaves text and image in order to explore the nature of materiality and the physicality of language itself. While working on a PhD in Literature, Jo developed a chronic pain condition and turned to creative writing as a therapeutic practice. Much of her poetry grows out of her experience with chronic pain and is designed to evoke a feeling of weightlessness and ease.
