About the Author

Scott's early years were spent on his family's grazing property in the Glenmorgan District of south west Queensland. He went to boarding school in Toowoomba where he took art classes, and in the holidays he could be seen taking photographs of daily property life, always from an unusual viewpoint- from the top of the windmill or standing on the cab of the ute. He was often after the bird's-eye view. For the past twenty years Scott has worked as a stockman on vast landholdings in the Queensland and Northern Territory outback. As the quintessential 'Ringer from the Top End', he has experienced the toughness of life on the land while appreciating and celebrating the awesome beauty and wanting to share it with others through his photography. He became a helicopter pilot in 2002 and since then has mustered cattle mainly out of Mt Isa over some of the most isolated country and roughest terrain in Australia. It is mostly in this atmosphere that Scott has found the subject matter for his images. The landscapes and portraits are forged out of that raw landscape and bring to the viewer his intimate knowledge and appreciation of this unique country.Scott is based in Meandarra in south-western Queensland.
