The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez Review

Abby Jimenez's writing has a way of sucking me in, which is why I read her newest novel The Night We Met in less than a day - I couldn’t put it down.

Sure, the content is morally grey - we’re talking boyfriend’s best friend here. But what I enjoyed the most about The Night We Met was that our two POV’s Larissa and Chris formed a friendship. They shared a dog, they recommended each other books, they had a lot of common threads, and Chris just wanted to make her life a little easier, one nut-free loaf of bread at a time.

The book has a lot of complex issues in it, grief, alcoholism, debt, and a ravenous dog who likes to eat anything with a pulse. Through it all we find ourselves asking what we would do if we found ourselves in a similar situation.

It was the slowest of slow burns, seeing as it was also forbidden love. Along with a grumpy MMC who just wanted to dispense at the pharmacy and read 300 books a year - this book is full of tropes, so there’s likely something for everyone. We also get to revisit Xavier from Say You’ll Remember Me who continues to wear his heart on his sleeve and look out for the people in his life.
