Victor Silvester
Victor Silvester was a pivotal figure in ballroom dancing, renowned for popularizing the “slow, slow, quick, quick, slow” rhythm. He achieved success by winning the World’s Professional Dancing Championship in 1922, subsequently establishing a distinguished career as a dance demonstrator and instructor.
His recordings, featuring his celebrated orchestra, achieved remarkable sales exceeding 75 million copies. For his contributions to ballroom dancing, Victor Silvester was awarded the OBE. He also held the esteemed position of President of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. Victor Silvester passed away in 1978.
