- Early Life: Grew up with many books but often lacked food. Began working at a young age as a companion and teacher.
- Writing Career: Found her greatest passion in writing. Similar to her character Jo March, she sold sensational stories to help support her family.
- Civil War Experience: Served as a nurse during the American Civil War, an experience that led to severe illness.
- Notable Works:
- Little Women (1868), based on her childhood with her three sisters.
- Good Wives (1869)
- Little Men (1871)
- Jo’s Boys (1886)
- Also wrote other books for children and adults.
- Activism: Campaigned for women’s rights and the abolition of the slave trade.
