Horrible Harry and the Purple People

Suzy Kline is the author of nineteen Horrible Harry books and four books about Song Lee. She lives in Willington, Connecticut, with her husband, Rufus.

Suzy and Rufus, married for thirty-eight years, met in California, the state where they both grew up. Suzy hails from Berkeley, and Rufus from Sacramento. Suzy graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in European history. She briefly attended the Davis campus, where she met Rufus. After getting married, they lived in various places, including Canada, before settling in Connecticut.

Before retiring, Suzy taught for three years in 5th and 6th grades at Shannon Elementary School in Richmond, California. She then taught 2nd and 3rd grades for twenty-four years at Southwest Elementary School in Torrington, Connecticut. Now retired, she writes full-time and enjoys visiting schools and libraries.

Suzy and Rufus share their home with two cats, Teeter and Hoag. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Emily, and four grandchildren: Jake, Kenna, Gabby, and Saylor. A fifth grandchild was due in September 2006. Suzy’s mother, who recently turned 96, was the dedicatee of Suzy’s most recent book, Horrible Harry Takes the Cake.

Suzy and Rufus are fans of UConn football and basketball. Suzy also utilizes the UConn library for research for her writing.
