Ngugi wa Thiong'o
Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o (1938-2025) was a prominent Kenyan writer and scholar. His extensive body of work includes novels such as A Grain of Wheat and Devil on the Cross, as well as memoirs and essays, most notably Decolonising the Mind. He served as the Distinguished Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Irvine. Ngũgĩ was recognized with fourteen honorary doctorates and was nominated for the Man Booker International Prize.
