Ranjana Srivastava
Dr. Ranjana Srivastava is an oncologist and educator in the Melbourne public hospital system. She received her medical degree from Monash University with first-class honours and several awards. In 2004, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to complete her studies at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Srivastava’s writing has appeared in publications such as Time, The Guardian, New York Times, and The Age, as well as Best Australian Science Writing. Her work has also been featured in leading medical journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. In 2008, her story ‘Ode to a Patient’ received the Cancer Council Victoria Arts Award for outstanding writing, and in 2012, she won the Nossal Global Health Prize for writing.
She is the author of two books: Tell Me the Truth, which was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Award, and Dying for a Chat, a Penguin Special that explores communication issues between doctors and patients.
Dr. Srivastava resides in Melbourne with her husband and three children.
