Bill Bryson
Bill Bryson was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1951. He spent his childhood there and has lived most of his adult life in Britain. He has worked for a number of newspapers, including The Times and The Independent.
Bryson is the author of eighteen books and holds the record for the most bestsellers on the Sunday Times bestseller list in the last fifty years. His books on the English language include Mother Tongue and Troublesome Words.
