About The Author

Rachel Emily

Worcestershire-born and currently living in North-East London, Rachel has been a published songwriter for almost a decade. Rachel’s commercial successes include penning and producing UK number one and US platinum-selling singles and her poetry has been used as the stimulus for performances at the Barbican, London. Rachel has a deep-rooted and enduring passion for nature, wildlife, plants, fungi, animals and the environment and these are common themes in her writing. Rachel’s writing for children aims to encourage curiosity, imagination, gentleness and empathy in anyone reading - however old they are.

After graduating from Cambridge School of Art in 2020, Jodie has been long listed at the World Illustration Awards, and selected for both the AOI and D&AD’s ‘Ones To Watch’ showcase lists. She has interests in creating atmospheres, and evoking feelings from her imagery. She loves to create work about a variety of subjects, which often come from inspirations of light sources, landscape and nature. Her illustrations are created traditionally using a combination of gouache and coloured pencil, and are heavily rooted in observational drawing and sketchbook work through drawing on location outside.
