Ingeborg Bachmann

Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973) was an Austrian author, poet, and philosopher. Her prolific work includes short stories, radio plays, essays, and the novel Malina. Born in Austria to a Nazi party member, Bachmann gained significant recognition in the 1950s for her writings that explored the German language in the aftermath of the Holocaust. She was a prominent figure in the media, known for her celebrated literary achievements, social commentary, and notable romantic relationships. Bachmann received numerous prestigious German and Austrian literary awards, including the Georg Buchner Prize. Her influence extends to prominent writers such as Günter Grass, Max Frisch, Christa Wolf, and Peter Handke.
