Joshua David Stein
Joshua David Stein is a writer, editor, and podcast host based in New York City. He is the editor-at-large at Fatherly and hosts The Fatherly Podcast. He is the author of several adult books, including Food & Beer (Phaidon), Epicurean Journeys (Rizzoli), the forthcoming To Me He Was Just Dad (Artisan), and co-author of Notes from a Young Black Chef (Knopf).
Stein has also written numerous children’s books, such as Can I Eat That?, Brick, Who Found Herself in Architecture, The Ball Book (all Phaidon), and most recently, The Invisible Alphabet (Rise x Penguin Workshop). He recently founded The Band Books, a band that performs children’s books set to music.
A seasoned media professional, Stein’s editorial experience includes serving as editor-in-chief of BlackBook magazine, editor at Black Ink, senior editor at Departures, senior editor of Eater, editor-at-large at Out magazine and Tasting Table. He is currently a contributing editor at Food & Wine. Stein resides in Brooklyn with his two young sons.
Dominique Ramsey
Dominique Ramsey is a freelance illustrator from Atlanta, Georgia, with a passion for illustrating stories centered on animals, nature, and the whimsical mysteries of life. Her creative influences stem from animation, video games, music, and animal-focused children’s literature, including the Warrior Cats book series and the Pokemon game franchise. She also draws inspiration from animals themselves, their spiritual connections, their relationships with humans, and their significance across various cultures.
Ramsey aims for distinctiveness in her work, employing vibrant colors, strong lines, and eye-catching shapes and patterns. Her illustrations often incorporate symbolism, exploring themes of mystery, culture, identity, and the subconscious mind. Her artistic achievements have been recognized by 3x3 magazine, the Society of Illustrators, and Creative Quarterly. She earned her BFA in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2020.
