About The Author

Kate Chopin

KATE CHOPIN (1851-1904)

Kate Chopin published her first novel, At Fault, at her own expense in 1890. This was followed by two critically acclaimed short story collections: Bayou Folk (1894) and A Night in Acadie (1897). Her novel The Awakening, published in 1899, was met with widespread disapproval, leading to the cancellation of her next book contract. Despite this initial backlash, her literary talent gained significant recognition within a decade of her death at the age of fifty-four.
