About The Author
Mikaela Loach
Mikaela Loach is a British-Jamaican former medical student, climate justice organiser, and Director of the AWETHU School of Organising. Recognized by Forbes, BBC Women’s Hour, and The Guardian as one of the most influential women in the UK climate movement, her debut book, It’s Not That Radical: Climate Action to Transform Our World, quickly became an indie bestseller.
Loach was honored as the 2023 Non-Fiction Indie Champion by Bookshop.org and was named one of the “World’s Top Thinkers” by Prospect Magazine. She has a history of confronting powerful entities, including calling out billionaires at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s annual event. In 2021, she was involved in the landmark “Paid To Pollute” case, taking the UK government to court. She has also challenged Shell’s CEO and board at their Annual General Meeting regarding human rights abuses against the people of the Niger Delta in Nigeria.
