Richard Schickel
Richard Schickel reviewed movies for Life and Time for the same length of time Clint Eastwood starred in them. He authored many books about film and filmmakers, including The Disney Version, the definitive study of Walt Disney and his works; D. W. Griffith- An American Life, which won the British Film Institute Book Prize; and The Men Who Made the Movies, on the directors of the classic Hollywood age. For over two decades, he created television documentaries, primarily about film history. He held a Guggenheim Fellowship and taught film history and criticism at Yale and USC. He lived in Los Angeles.
