Summary
In a follow up to the delightful BEAR AND CHOOK, the two lovable characters continue their adventures in BEAR AND CHOOK BY THE SEA.
Bear and Chook are unexpected friends. Bear still likes adventure and Chook would still much rather have the quiet life! One day they decide to go and visit the sea. Chook is worried that they don’t know the way and will get lost, but Bear is confident they will find it - just around the pond, under the bridge, through the forest and over the mountain!

About The Author
Lisa Shanahan
Lisa Shanahan (Author)
Lisa Shanahan is an award-winning writer of picture books and fiction for young people. Some of her well-loved books include GORDON’S GOT A SNOOKIE, illustrated by Wayne Harris, and BEAR AND CHOOK and DADDY’S HAVING A HORSE, illustrated by Emma Quay. Her picture book BEAR AND CHOOK BY THE SEA, illustrated by Emma Quay, won the CBCA Book of the Year for Early Childhood in 2010 and BIG PET DAY, illustrated by Gus Gordon, won the Speech Pathology Book of the Year Award for the 5-8 age group in 2015.
Lisa loves moon-gazing, making up words, mint slices, mock orange blossom, black cockatoos, shouts of unexpected laughter, the weight of a scruffy dog resting on her knee and cups of tea. She lives in Sydney, close to the river of her childhood, with her husband, their three sons and one bouncy spoodle.
Emma Quay (Illustrator)
Emma Quay is an illustrator and writer of many award-winning picture books; her memorable characters for Rudie Nudie, Bear and Chook, Good Night, Me, Shrieking Violet, Daddy’s Cheeky Monkey, Not a Cloud in the Sky, Scarlett, Starlet and My Sunbeam Baby are favourites on children’s bookshelves all over Australia.
Emma grew up in the English countryside, and has wanted to illustrate children’s books for as long as she can remember. She works from a studio in her home and sometimes feels like she barely leaves it, but her illustrative work is held in collections around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
