Richard Mason
Born in Johannesburg in 1978, Richard Mason moved to England with his parents at the age of 10. He was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford.
His first novel, The Drowning People, was published during his first year at Oxford and has since been translated into 22 languages.
Mason established the Kay Mason Foundation in memory of his sister, who passed away when he was a child. The foundation’s mission is to provide access to quality education for young people in South Africa. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a Nobel Peace laureate, serves as the foundation’s patron.
Richard Mason currently resides in Glasgow, Scotland, and Cape Town, South Africa.
