Captain America Modern Era Epic Collection: The Burden of Dreams

Ed Brubaker is a multiple Eisner Award-winning writer renowned for his work in comics. He gained critical acclaim for his runs on Scene of the Crime, Sleeper, Catwoman, and Gotham Central for DC Comics. His move to Marvel saw him revitalize Captain America, notably by reintroducing Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier. Brubaker also explored the history of Marvel’s mutants in X-Men: Deadly Genesis and became a regular on Uncanny X-Men.

Alongside artist Michael Lark, he took over Daredevil following the acclaimed run by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev. He also co-created Immortal Iron Fist with Matt Fraction and David Aja. Brubaker’s creator-owned work, including Criminal and Incognito, was published under Marvel’s Icon imprint. He has since achieved further success at Image Comics with titles such as Fatale, Velvet, and The Fade Out. Beyond comics, Brubaker has written for the television series Westworld and co-created the crime drama Too Old to Die Young.

Steve Epting began his career at First Comics before making his mark at Marvel with a notable fifty-issue run on Avengers in the mid-90s. He also contributed to Factor X as part of the “Age of Apocalypse” event. After working on various CrossGen titles with writers Mark Waid and Chuck Dixon, Epting returned to Marvel to collaborate with Ed Brubaker on a highly regarded run of Captain America. The duo also reunited for the miniseries The Marvels Project. Epting’s work with writer Jonathan Hickman included a significant run on Fantastic Four, notably depicting the death of the Human Torch.

Jackson “Butch” Guice started his Marvel career in the 1980s, penciling titles like Micronauts, New Mutants, and X-Factor. He later moved to DC, where he had a popular run on Flash, illustrated nearly three years of Action Comics, and participated in the “Death of Superman” event. He co-created Resurrection Man and worked on Birds of Prey. Returning to Marvel, Guice penciled Captain America, Iron Man, Ultimate Origins, and more. His work also extends to CrossGen’s Ruse, Dark Horse’s Terminator: Endgame and Aliens/Predator, First’s Badger and Nexus, and Valiant’s Eternal Warrior.

Rafael De Latorre is a Brazilian illustrator known for his long-standing collaboration with writer Marguerite Bennett on Animosity for Aftershock Comics. He is gaining recognition at Marvel for his contributions to Black Widow, Daredevil, and New Mutants.
