About The Author
Alan Zelenetz
Alan Zelenetz
Alien Legion co-creator Alan Zelenetz’s other Asgard-related works include a run on Thor and the graphic novel Raven Banner, another collaboration with Charles Vess. He has written for Master of Kung Fu; Moon Knight; What If?; and multiple Robert E. Howard-based series, including a run on King Conan/Conan the King. He also wrote the Official Handbook of the Conan Universe one-shot. His Alien Legion graphic novel, A Grey Day to Die, received the Squiddy Award for Favorite Graphic Album in 1988. After acting as an advisor on award-winning film Pi, he became a film producer; his work includes Darkon, The Funeral Party, The Goldberg Variations and Promiscuous Stories.
Bill Mantlo
Bill Mantlo began his Marvel career on Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, in which he introduced White Tiger, one of the industry’s earliest Hispanic super heroes. Eventually writing stories for almost every Marvel title, he did some of his most fondly remembered work on Incredible Hulk and Spectacular Spider-Man. He also created Rocket Raccoon, launched Cloak & Dagger in a pair of miniseries and guided Alpha Flight through some of its most harrowing ordeals. Mantlo excelled at integrating licensed properties into the Marvel Universe, as demonstrated by Micronauts and Rom, both of which he wrote from start to finish. At DC, he wrote the Invasion miniseries for one of the company’s biggest crossover events.
Charles Vess
Charles Vess wrote and/or penciled stories for multiple Marvel anthologies, most notably Epic Illustrated. At DC, he provided artwork for Books of Magic, Swamp Thing and Sandman. Vess and Sandman writer Neil Gaiman teamed again on Stardust, which was adapted for film, and other projects, including children’s book Blueberry Girl. The pair’s collaborations have earned multiple honors, including two World Fantasy Awards.
