About The Author

Mark Waid

Mark Waid

New York Times best-selling author Mark Waid has worked for every major company in the comics industry in a nearly three-decade-long career, writing thousands of issues, including runs of Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, Ka-Zar, and Fantastic Four. His other works of note include his collaboration with painter Alex Ross on Kingdom Come, which earned an Eisner Award for Best Limited Series. Waid enjoyed his greatest outpouring of critical acclaim with the Eisner Award-winning Daredevil - which included a revered collaboration with frequent artistic partner Chris Samnee. He later took on such diverse pop-cultural icons as Princess Leia and Archie, and ushered in a new era of greatness for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in All-New, All-Different Avengers. His Marvel work continued with Avengers, Black Widow, Captain America, Champions, and Doctor Strange.

Fred Van Lente

Fred Van Lente has been a comics fan as long as he can remember, initially hooked by his father’s copy of Jules Feiffer’s landmark anthology The Great Comic Book Heroes. Van Lente joined Syracuse University’s comic-book club and met artist Steve Ellis, with whom he created indie super-crime comic The Silencers. That work got noticed by Marvel, where Van Lente was soon hired and introduced a heroic new Scorpion in Amazing Fantasy. Since then, the versatile Van Lente’s many Marvel assignments have included three New York Times-best-selling entries in the Marvel Zombies series, as well as Amazing Spider-Man, Incredible Hercules, X-Men Noir, Iron Man Legacy, Chaos War, Herc, and Alpha Flight.

Paul Azaceta

Able to blend classic layouts with a modern touch, Paul Azaceta’s first work for the House of Ideas was Peter David’s Captain Marvel. After a long absence, his return has included the miniseries Foolkiller and Punisher Noir. Other industry work includes Talent and Grounded.

Javier Pulido

Comics artist since the late ‘90s, Javier Pulido has impressed readers with his graphic style and compelling storytelling on titles such as Amazing Spider-Man, Hawkeye, and She-Hulk.
