Kentaro Miura
Kentaro Miura debuted his first manga, Berserk Prototype, in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This 48-page work served as an introduction to the Berserk fantasy world and earned Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School.
After receiving his doctorate degree in 1989, Miura began a project titled King of Wolves, collaborating with Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).
The first volume of Berserk was released in 1990, achieving limited success. Miura also worked with Buronson again on a manga titled Japan. Miura’s popularity surged with the “The Golden Age” story arc in Berserk, and the immense success of this masterpiece established him as one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.
In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk, which aired that year on NTV. The series has since inspired a wide array of merchandise, including statues, action figures, keychains, video games, and a trading card game.
In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
