Jose Saramago
Jose Saramago is considered one of the most significant international writers of the last century. Born in Portugal in 1922, he achieved widespread recognition as a writer in his sixties with the release of Baltasar and Blimunda. His prolific career yielded a substantial body of work, translated into over forty languages. In 1998, he was honored with the Nobel Prize in Literature. Saramago passed away in June 2010.
