Kentaro Miura
Kentaro Miura debuted his first manga, Berserk Prototype, in 1988. This 48-page work served as an introduction to the Berserk fantasy world and earned him a prize from the Comi Manga School. After receiving his doctorate degree in 1989, Miura began work on King of Wolves, a project based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star).
In 1990, the first volume of Berserk was released, achieving limited success. Miura collaborated with Buronson again on the manga Japan. His fame grew significantly after Berserk began its “The Golden Age” story arc. The immense success of this masterpiece established Miura as one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.
In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk, which aired that year on NTV. The series has inspired a wide range of merchandise, including statues, action figures, key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
