Summary

Guts, the Black Swordsman, goes from the frying pan to the fire as he must enter the mating chamber in the horrifying lair of trolls to rescue his love, Casca, and the Lady Farnese from the loathsome attentions of the hideous beasts. But while even an army of trolls cannot stand against Guts’s boundless fury, the mightiest of warriors is no match for a demon lord. And so when Slan of the Godhand manifests from the entrails of slain trolls and takes Guts into her deadly embrace, Guts discovers he may not only be fighting for his life, but for his very soul.

About The Author

Kentaro Miura

Kentaro Miura debuted Berserk Prototype, a 48-page manga, in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This work served as an introduction to the Berserk fantasy world and earned Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School.

In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Miura began work on King of Wolves, a project based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).

The first volume of Berserk was released in 1990 to limited success. Miura then collaborated with Buronson again on the manga Japan. Miura’s fame grew significantly as Berserk’s “The Golden Age” story arc gained popularity, establishing him as a prominent contemporary manga artist.

In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk, which aired that year on NTV. The series has since inspired a wide range of merchandise, including statues, action figures, key rings, video games, and a trading card game.

In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
