About The Author
Alvin Schwartz
Alvin Schwartz (1916-2011) wrote both the Superman and Batman comics as well as many other comic book titles during the 1940s and 50s. He was the author of two philosophical novels, one of which, The Blowtop, was described by the New York Times as the first conscious existentialist novel in America. A recipient of the prestigious Canada Council Horizons grant, he also wrote a number of screenplays and docudramas.
