About The Author
Robert Bruce Newman
Robert Bruce Newman, a UC Berkeley graduate, pursued advanced studies and training with respected Buddhist teachers. After more than 12 years, he was authorized to teach a comprehensive mindfulness meditation technique based on complete breathing. His training led to his acceptance as a mind-body medicine instructor in hospitals in Oregon, California, and New Jersey. In 1998, he introduced Calm Birth, a new childbirth practice, in Oregon hospitals. He has presented the Calm Birth method at world congresses of the Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPAH) and at the University of Michigan Medical School and Bastyr University. The program now has teachers in 15 countries.
