What They're Saying

Critics Review

“Jim Afremow gives athletes practical tools to handle pressure, trust themselves, and compete with poise when consistency, toughness, and belief matter most.”
—Heather Mitts, 3-time Olympic gold medalist on the US Women’s National Soccer Team

The Daily Champion’s Mind captures what great competitors and coaches know to be true: excellence is built with intent and clarity one day at a time. Jim Afremow delivers clear, practical reminders about how to show up with discipline, focus, and intent.”
—Mike Candrea, Olympic gold medal–winning head coach of the US Women’s National Softball Team

“Star-ratings and draft positions are meaningless in between the white lines. Mental toughness always precedes physical toughness. I highly recommend reading The Daily Champion’s Mind.”
—Scott Shanle, Super Bowl champion

“High performance is about making the smart choice, not just the emotional one. The Daily Champion’s Mind gives you the tools to execute under pressure.”
—Freddie Crittenden, Olympic track and field athlete

“Having coached at the Olympic and NCAA level, I’m impressed by how practical The Daily Champion’s Mind is. These daily tools help athletes stay clear, confident, and consistent when the stakes are high.”
—Ozzie Quevedo, Olympic and NCAA head swimming coach

“Most people are looking for a big breakthrough, but in my experience it’s usually the small things you do consistently that change your life. That’s what I appreciate about this book. It reminds us that confidence isn’t something you find—it’s something you build. A few minutes a day, making better choices, staying in the game in sport or in real life when things get uncomfortable. This book gives you the opportunity to create a mental and emotional practice.”
—Gabby Reece, former pro volleyball player, cofounder of XPT, and host of The Gabby Reece Show

“I’ve always believed that pressure doesn’t create character, it reveals it. The question is, what are you doing every day to prepare for those moments? This book gives people practical ways to train the part of themselves that shows up when things get hard. That’s useful whether you’re competing, running a business, raising a family, or just trying to become a better version of yourself.”
—Laird Hamilton, pioneering surfer, waterman, and cofounder of Laird Superfood

The Daily Champion’s Mind provides practical steps to consistently train your mind. Small reps that compound over time are exactly what athletes need to stay consistent with this kind of training.”
—Edose Ibadin, Olympic track and field athlete

The Daily Champion’s Mind allows any athlete to make an incredible investment in the development of their mental game. This practical guide weaves story, science, and—most importantly—daily practice into your life. Phil and Jim have done an outstanding job exploring the mechanics of the mind.”
—Henry Barrera, director of performance for the University of Alabama men’s basketball

The Daily Champion’s Mind delivers mental training that holds up when pressure is highest and conditions are most challenging. It captures the principles I relied on at the Olympic level and makes them actionable—so confidence grows and mental toughness becomes instinct. A powerful guide to going beyond belief and into peak performance when it matters most.”
—Ashleigh McIvor, Olympic gold medalist and world champion in ski cross

“More than at any time in history, it is important to practice how you think about yourself and how you talk to yourself. The Daily Champion’s Mind is a teacher on that, relaxing and intense at the same time.”
—Tom Brands, Olympic gold medalist and head wrestling coach of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes

“Adaptability is one of the most crucial strengths in getting where you want to go, no matter the obstacles. It’s acquired through years of focus and experience. There is no shortcut to being more adaptable or developing mental fortitude, but this book provides the blueprint for creating a daily mindset practice that will get you there.”
—Kai Lenny, world champion paddler, big wave surfer, and waterman
