About The Author
NisiOisiN
NisiOisin, born in 1981, is one of Japan’s most successful authors. He dropped out of Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto to pursue storytelling, initially aiming to be a comic artist. Realizing his art was lacking, he focused on writing, winning the 23rd Mephisto Prize for Decapitation at age 20. Since his 2002 debut, Nisio has written over 50 novels and comics, becoming a top-selling author in Japan with over 5 million units sold since 2009. He was the top-selling author in Japan in both 2012 and 2014. Nisio’s works often explore youth themes within familiar genres, blending mystery, comedy, and elements of romance or the supernatural. He is considered a modern author, experimenting with the Japanese language. Many of his works have been adapted into animated television series and films. His best-known works include the Monogatari series and Katanagatari.
