About The Author
Leni Shilton
Leni Shilton is a poet, nurse, educator and researcher who has worked in Aboriginal adult education in the Northern Territory for 25 years. She has twice won the Northern Territory Literary Poetry and Essay Awards, and in 2015 was shortlisted in the University of Canberra Poetry Prize. In February 2016 she completed a PhD in creative writing. Her writing has appeared in anthologies and journals in Australia and internationally. She is a successful recipient of creative writing grants and international residencies and her work has appeared in exhibitions and adapted for the stage. Leni is a founding member of Ptilotus Press, a small publishing intuitive which promotes central Australian writing. She currently works for the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Women’s Council in Alice Springs, running violence prevention programs.
