Leigh Sales
Leigh Sales AM is one of Australia’s most recognised and respected journalists. She is the anchor of ABC-TV’s Australian Story. From 2011 to 2022, she presented the ABC’s flagship evening current affairs program, 7.30, and was the face of major news coverage for the network, including federal elections and budget nights. Her career has spanned roles as a foreign correspondent based in Washington DC, covering national security and politics, and working across television, radio, print, and digital media.
She is the author of five books:

- Any Ordinary Day (2018) (a national bestseller)

Leigh co-hosts the popular podcast Chat 10, Looks 3 with Annabel Crabb. The podcast garners hundreds of thousands of downloads monthly, sells out live shows across Australia, and explores topics from arts and culture to friendship and grief.
She also anchors the ABC TV program The Assembly, where she mentors autistic journalism trainees in interviewing prominent Australians.
Leigh’s accolades include three Walkley awards for journalism and an Order of Australia for her public service. She holds two honorary doctorates from the Queensland University of Technology and Edith Cowan University, recognising her contributions to journalism.
She is the mother of two sons.
