Sandra Morris
Sandra Morris is an author and illustrator from New Zealand. She gained her Masters in Fine Arts in 1990 where she completed her first picture book, One Lonely Kakapo, which won her the Russell Clark award for illustration in 1992. She has since written and illustrated Discovering New Zealand Birds, which was a finalist in both the Aim Children’s Book Awards and the Non Fiction Library awards. Sandra also runs her own illustration agency promoting New Zealand illustrators overseas. Sensational Survivors was her first book with Walker Books. It was a finalist in both the Non-Fiction category of the New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards, 2011, and the Elsie Locke (Non Fiction) Award, LIANZA Children’s Book Awards, 2011; and also named as a Notable Young Adult Fiction, Storylines Notable Books List, 2011.
Nicolette Treanor is an illustrator and book designer based in the Blue Mountains, Australia. She loves rummaging through op shops, pottering in the garden with her chooks, cuddling her cavoodle, and spending hours in the picture book corner of the bookshop. She has had a paintbrush in her hand since the age of 2 and has a renewed love for all things books now that she is the mum of a sweet baby girl.
Her illustrations have featured on pyjama fabrics, product packaging and wallpapers, and she is regularly creating illustrative covers in her role as Book Designer for Walker Books Australia. Nicolette’s published works include Grandmas are Lovely and Happy Mother’s Day (both Scholastic Australia). Her illustrative and design work has been recognised with nominations by the Australian Book Designers Association for Best Designed Children’s Fiction Book and Best Designed Children’s Picture Book.
