Barney Campbell joined the army after university, was commissioned into the Blues and Royals and served with them for five years. He was deployed on a tour of Afghanistan in the winter of 2009⁄10. He is from the Scottish Borders and is currently working in London. His first novel, Rain, was published in 2015.
