Pierre Christin
Born July 27th, 1938, in Saint-Mandé, France. Christin relocated to the United States in 1965, where he reconnected with childhood friend Jean-Claude Mézières, and together they created the Valerian and Laureline comic series. Christin later became a renowned screenwriter, collaborating with prominent figures in French comics. A passionate traveler, he has circled the globe twice, attributing his imaginative ideas to his journeys.
Jean-Claude Mézières
Born September 23rd, 1938, in Paris, France. While in the USA in 1965, Mézières reunited with Pierre Christin, and they began their collaboration on comics, culminating in the creation of the iconic Valerian and Laureline series. His contributions were recognized with the Angoulême Grand Prize in 1984. Mézières also lent his talents to the set design for Luc Besson’s 1997 film The Fifth Element and participated in the Lille European Capital of Culture project in 2004.
