Azie Tesfai
Azie Tesfai played DC’s the Guardian on CW’s Supergirl series. She not only played this superhero but wrote its debut episode, “Blind Spots.” The episode focused on the protection and inclusion of marginalized communities, highlighting their inherent strength and resilience. Tesfai is the first Ethiopian/Eritrean person to portray a superhero on television and the first CW actress to write for the network.
Penelope Rivera Gaylord is an illustrator and visual development artist. She began her professional career in comics before transitioning into the animation industry, crafting stories and characters for studios such as Cartoon Network, Imagine Entertainment Kids and Family, and 9B Collective. Her illustration work includes the Captain Marvel Little Golden Books and the Avengers: Battle on the Moon Little Golden Book for Penguin Random House. Born in the Philippines, Gaylord grew up in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She and her husband, Jerry, are dedicated to bringing their stories to life through animation.
