Clement C. Moore

Clement Clarke Moore (July 15, 1779 - July 10, 1863) was an American writer and poet. He is best known as the author of the Christmas poem, A Visit from St. Nicholas, which first named each of Santa’s reindeer. He wrote this for his children, and it later became widely known by its opening line: ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’. It was first published anonymously in the ‘Sentinel’ on December 23rd, 1823.
