About The Author

Stephen McGrath

Stephen McGrath is the recipient of the prestigious The Age Short Story Award, having also been a runner-up in the same competition. He has garnered several other national story awards. McGrath grew up in New Zealand before relocating to Melbourne, where he currently resides with his wife and two children.

In 2005, while researching at the Mitchell Library NSW, he discovered a photograph within Jimmy Sharman’s personal collection. This photograph suggested that Jimmy Sharman may not have enlisted in the First World War and instead continued to tour with his Boxing Troupe. After fifteen years of dedicated research and writing, Jimmy Sharman’s Boxers marks his debut novel.
