Jemima Parker
Jemima Parker is a children’s author who lives in Canberra, Australia, with her husband and two dogs. She grew up on the far-south coast of New South Wales, where a creek was her playground and childhood days were spent exploring with her sister, reading, dreaming up stories, and watching the clouds.
Jemima graduated with First Class Honours in Visual Arts (Textiles) from the Australian National University and has exhibited widely in Australia and abroad, teaching screen printing both at home and at the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, USA. She now works in communications at the ANU and is the e-zine editor for SCBWI Australia East. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and, of course, watching the clouds. A Cloud for Cleo is her debut picture book.
Nicky Johnston is a Melbourne-based, award-winning children’s author and illustrator with more than 40 titles published in Australia and overseas. She loves every part of making children’s books, and illustration most of all, working in watercolour, ink, pencil, pastel, and printmaking to create art often described as whimsical, playful, narrative, emotive, and colourful.
Her illustrated books include the CBCA Honour Book Amira’s Suitcase and the Speech Pathology Book of the Year winner The Incredibly Busy Mind of Bowen Bartholomew Crisp, as well as the CBCA Notable titles Jorn’s Magnificent Imagination, Grandma Forgets, and Run Pups Run. A primary-school educator with more than 25 years’ experience, Nicky is a warm and engaging workshop leader who loves sharing visual storytelling with children of all ages and inspiring them to stretch their imaginations.
