What They're Saying
Critics Review
“Saint Delilah is a dark, glittering tribute to every female character who starts the story already dead. It is gripping and gruesome and atmospheric as hell, with a big, bloody heart at its core. I couldn’t put this one down.” —Ainslie Hogarth, author of Motherthing
“Saint Delilah is a marvel of a debut that crackles with energy. Spotts’ writing is elegant and smart, deftly combining in fresh ways all the most compelling ingredients of supernatural suspense. Rich in lyrical and honest prose, yet with heart-pounding pacing and heart-wrenching characters that kept me up at night, Saint Delilah is an astonishing debut that will stay with readers long after they put it down.“—Laurie L. Dove, USA Today bestselling author of Mask of the Deer Woman
“Here is a story that carries you along on the poetry of its language. There’s a sense that you’re hearing a forbidden story from your grandmother, waiting in hushed silence for the details you’ve long suspected were true. There were sentences I was jealous I hadn’t written myself.” —Leslie J. Anderson, author of The Unmothers
“Saint Delilah is a gritty and gripping blend of true crime, spiritualism, and female rage. Isabelle Spotts weaves a cast of characters that each come alive on the page in a unique setting of a small town once owned by religious fanatics, now lit by neon lights. You won’t be able to put down this twisty, decadent book until you know justice and revenge have been served!” —Linda Hamilton, author of The Fourth Wife
